“Michael was here”

Whenever I leave my desk, Michael sees this as an opportunity to enter my work space. Besides my lunch break, I am at my desk for all but maybe 15 minutes to go to the breakroom or the bathroom.

But my goodness if he doesn’t take advantage of those 15 minutes.

When I return I often see him leaving my desk. Or there will be papers on my chair and he will be gone in the time it took me to get a cup of coffee.

Usually the papers are work related. He hates talking to me about work I have to do. He’d much rather give me a blow by blow of the golf game *yawn* he played on Saturday than explain to me details of an assignment he wants me to take on.

  1. Couple of suggestions for Michael Repellent. Leave a note to a friend on your desk describing how your significant other (real or imagined) is a violently jealous person and how you fear for the life for those who individuals who hang around you. Or complain that someone is stealing items out of your desk and your going to find out who it is and get them fired. But…are you sure you aren’t a little flattered by this dude’s attention?

  2. OMG. Notes with details (fake or real) about my personal life? Michael would be in gossip girl heaven. He loves knowing details about people’s lives.
And, yes I’m totally sure I’m not flattered. He does this to everyone in the office (except the people he’s scared of). It might be flattering if he wasn’t so socially awkward and made me feel uncomfortable every time he talked to me.

  3. at least you don’t have to talk to him about his golf game AND work. :)

  4. I had a boss who used to walk up to your cube when you were in it (Lumberg-style… “Hey, what’s happening?)

Then would just randomly start opening drawers and those overhead shelves.

The gal sitting next to me had a huge stack of Glamour and OK! magazines and he started LEAFING THROUGH THEM!!!!!

What if she had something super personal in there?? Amazing. He did this CONSTANTLY!!!!

  5. Wow. Chris. You win.
